Community Involvement
At Kindred Hospitals, we are dedicated to providing world-class care to patients in the communities where we operate, and in doing so, we aim to help improve health overall in those communities. Through an initiative of the ScionHealth Institute of Inclusion and Equity, Kindred Hospitals also focus on supporting nonprofit organizations that are making a positive impact on the communities where our team members live and work. Please read our latest Community and Charitable Giving Report to learn more.
Through the Kindred Foundation, we are able to maximize resources to support worthwhile community activities – giving our locations the ability to participate at a higher level in non-profit organizations they already support in their communities across the United States.
While we support many worthwhile causes, we have focused our efforts on developing strong partnerships with two key healthcare-related, non-profit organizations that are closely aligned with our business – the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association. These organizations have missions that are consistent with ours and through our involvement we can help them raise awareness about their important causes and aid these groups in funding research.
In addition, we have committed dollar-for-dollar matching funds for the Kindred Hospital locations that participate and fund-raise for events sponsored by these organizations and many others.
American Lung Association
In 2012, Kindred Hospitals became a National Corporate Team Partner of the American Lung Association. This partnership signifies Kindred’s commitment to improving lung health for all Americans, and in advancing our shared goals. Through this partnership, Kindred Hospitals support the American Lung Association through participation in, fundraising for and sponsorship of their walks, cycling adventures and climbs around the country. We’ve always supported the Lung Association because their mission aligns so closely with ours, in improving lung health and preventing lung disease. This is important to the health of our patients, as well as the well-being of our employees.
American Heart Association
Kindred Hospitals is excited to support the American Heart Association’s largest fundraiser, the Heart Walk, on a national level across all facilities. While Kindred Hospitals have participated in the walks for many years, in 2013, we became a National Heart Walk Corporate Team Partner. In addition to helping fight the #1 and #4 killers of American men and women, heart disease and stroke, this great family-friendly event offers great team-building opportunities in local facilities as well as access to the American Heart Association’s exceptional wellness tools. The American Heart Association’s mission is one that Kindred Hospitals believes in. The AHA strives to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Eighty percent of heart disease is preventable. Research, advocacy efforts and educational resources are funded by the money raised by Heart Walk participants. Every day, Kindred Hospitals cares for patients and residents who suffer from heart-related diseases. We see firsthand the effect these diseases have on patients, residents and their families.
Kindred Hospitals is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen in every community we serve. We will nurture partnerships with these organizations and continue to grow our involvement.
