Our Mission for Supplier Diversity

Kindred Hospitals strategy is to meet the needs of our diverse patient population by creating equal opportunities in our sourcing and procurement process for certified diverse suppliers, recognizing that they bring innovation and an understanding of the unique needs of our patients, which ultimately supports individuals in their healing process.

We believe diverse representation in all aspects of our business is essential to long-term success, and that philosophy extends to the companies, suppliers, and contractors with whom we partner for the provision of goods and services. Kindred Hospitals ensure contract-bidding opportunities are presented to all certified diverse businesses that satisfy our procurement and contractual goals, with strong preference shown to businesses that have supplier diversity programs of their own. We engage with suppliers through national accreditation agencies and active membership in diverse business chambers and councils. We also provide resources on how to become a certified diverse supplier and training on healthcare compliance.

We are committed to continuing our ongoing education around new strategies through active listening and consultation with Kindred Hospital’s Inclusion and Equity Council, as well as outside agencies focused on promoting diverse business practices.

Our commitment to supplier diversity ensures we are able to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, as well as federal, state, and local procurement regulations and programs.

Our Goal

Through our mission, we will develop corporate business programs and initiatives designed to increase the utilization and support of businesses that fall within classifications deemed under-utilized or under-represented.

How We Accomplish Supplier Diversity

• We partner with our GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) to qualify suppliers. Suppliers are chosen based on the satisfaction of our procurement and contractual goals, with strong preference shown to business that have supplier diversity programs of their own.
• In selecting diverse suppliers, we will ensure equal opportunity for contract bidding, provide resources on how to become a certified diverse supplier, and assist with training on healthcare compliance.
• We engage with suppliers through national accreditation agencies and active membership in diverse business chambers and councils.
• By using diverse suppliers, we bring innovation and an understanding of the unique needs of our patients that supports individuals in their healing process.
• These efforts maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, as well as federal, state, and local procurement regulations and programs.
