Daynay Xuarez Hernandez, Nursing Supervisor, was honored with the Monarch Caring and Community Award, which recognizes the most exceptional caregivers from the health system’s 80+ locations nationwide.

Carrie experienced a stroke that landed her in the hospital where she was diagnosed with a mass on her heart and developed sepsis. After having heart surgery, she was required a ventilator and ECMO. Several weeks later, she was transferred to Kindred Hospital for physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Making remarkable strides, Carrie was able to discharge to Kindred's Acute Rehabilitation Unit for continued recovery before heading home.

Following a serious motorcycle accident, Brent was diagnosed with several injuries including a traumatic brain injury. After many months in the hospital, he was transferred to Kindred Hospital for comprehensive rehabilitation. With the help of physical, occupational, and speech therapy, Brent regain his mobility, strength, fine motor skills, communication, and cognitive skills.

"I’ve been given my life back!" Michael was diagnosed with necrotizing pneumonia requiring the removal of part of his lung. At Kindred, he strengthened his lung capacity, weaned from the ventilator, and regained mobility before transferring home.
