Ensuring patients are getting the appropriate level of care as they progress through their recovery journeys is critical for managing costs and optimizing outcomes. Allowing complex patients to have timely access to our specialized acute care can promote recovery and reduce costly ICU stays and readmissions. At Kindred, it is always our goal to safely and effectively move patients along the care continuum to the next most appropriate level of care or to home.
At Kindred Hospitals, patients receive acute care from a physician-led care team specializing in treating patients with complex conditions. Our attending physicians see their patients every day, and physicians with specialties in pulmonology, cardiology, infectious disease, and general surgery may also participate in patient care. Our nurses are also experienced in treating complex conditions, and all nurses in high-acuity units are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Additionally, patients with serious respiratory illnesses have 24/7 access to a respiratory therapist.

Kindred Hospitals’ physician-led interdisciplinary care teams gather at the patient’s bedside at least weekly to discuss patient goals, milestones, and progress, and to provide education and answer questions – improving patient and family experience and outcomes.

Our Move Early Program incorporates movement into the recovery plan as early as is safe, even for patients on mechanical ventilation.
