Dillon, a young man with an adventurous spirit, had his life turned upside down when he was thrown 20 feet from his motorcycle in a serious accident. He arrived at the hospital with several injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, facial fractures, spinal fractures in his upper back, a collapsed lung, cuts and bruises, and intense pain. Once he was stable, he was transferred to Kindred Hospital Las Vegas – Flamingo for specialized acute care.
When he arrived, Dillon’s dedicated care team of doctors, nurses and rehab therapists developed a care plan which focused on his neurological and physical rehabilitation.
As part of his neurological rehabilitation, Dillon participated in speech therapy, targeting his memory, problem solving skills, and attention. As he recovered, he was able to participate in physical therapy, regaining his mobility through exercises in the rehabilitation gym. He also engaged in occupational therapy that helped him recover the coordination and fine motor skills needed to complete daily tasks independently.
By the end of his stay, Dillon was walking again, with a little help from his therapy team and a gait belt.
Thanks to Dillon’s determination, his family’s support, and the care he received at Kindred, he was ready to move to a lower level of care to continue his recovery journey.
