Miguel's Success Story
Following an emergency brain surgery, Miguel came to Kindred Hospital Brea for rehabilitation. He made excellent progress and was able to discharge home with the support of home health services.
A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital Brea
Miguel is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time outdoors, watching football, and staying active in his community.
Before his hospitalization, Miguel began experiencing serious breathing problems and neurological symptoms. These issues led to respiratory failure, a brain bleed, and cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery.
When Miguel arrived at Kindred Hospital, he needed a high level of care. He had poor safety awareness, was in bilateral wrist restraints, and needed help just to move. But thanks to the care team, including respiratory therapists, physical therapists, nurses, and physicians, Miguel began to regain strength and confidence.
After weeks of hard work, Miguel made incredible progress. He now walks over 330 feet with a front-wheeled walker, can climb 15 stairs, and is able to pick up items from the floor and recover from a fall on his own. His breathing is stable, and he no longer needs help with basic movement or self-care.
Miguel was recently discharged home with the support of home health services. He’s looking forward to being with his family again and plans to keep working hard in therapy to continue his recovery.
We’re proud to have been part of Miguel’s journey. Way to go, Miguel!
