Ofelia's Recovery from Brain Injury After a Fall

AT ADMISSION
After Ofelia fell, doctors were concerned she might have aneurysm. She also had a mix of acute and subacute bleeding between her skull and the outer covering of her brain. To relieve pressure and treat the bleeding, she had a craniotomy on the right side of her skull. She also broke her right femur and required a catheter.
TREATMENT AT KINDRED
At Kindred Hospital San Antonio, Ofelia received physical therapy, respiratory care, occupational therapy, dietitian support, PM&R, neurology, and wound care. Ofelia had been admitted with delirium precautions and a Dobbhoff feeding tube but by discharge, the feeding tube was discontinued and she could walk again.
OUTCOME
Ofelia's goal was to walk again, and she achieved it. She was discharged to an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility after 21 days of treatment.
