Tamara's Success Story

Kindred Hospital Aurora patient Tamara poses with her care team

Tamara experienced a fall that led to infected wounds.  At Kindred Hospital, her wounds healed and she progressed in her mobility before discharging to an acute rehab facility.

A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital Aurora

Tamara is a positive and wonderful person who enjoys spending her time at car shows and going to Bandimere Raceway for the drag races with her husband.  However, she has an serious case of Rheumatoid Arthritis that caused her to fall down a flight of stairs, fracturing three bones in her leg and requiring a total reverse shoulder surgery.

The surgery itself was a success, but her postoperative course was complicated and her care team recommended she transfer to Kindred Hospitals for specialized care.

From the beginning of her stay at Kindred, she was worried that she would never walk again and concerned her wounds would not heal. At the start of physical therapy, she had a difficult time getting out of bed and she was nervous to walk.  But she worked hard with her physical therapist and progressed to walking over twenty-five feet.  She became stronger and more confident as time passed. Additionally, her wound care team worked diligently to reduce the size of her wound, clear up any infections, and prevent any new wounds from forming.

After one month of care, Tamara was discharged to an acute rehabilitation hospital to continue her recovery.

Tamara looks forward to being back home surrounded by her friends, family and her dog. She is excited to host cook outs for sporting events and getting back to the racetrack with her husband.
