Anthony's Recovery from A Complex Foot Wound

Kindred Hospital Northland patient Anthony poses with his care team

When Anthony arrived at Kindred Hospital, he required wound care, IV antibiotics, physical and occupational therapy, and nutritional support. After working with his interdisciplinary care team, he was able to discharge to an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility.

A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital Northland

Anthony’s complex foot wound had dangerous infections and required specialized interdisciplinary care.

AT ADMISSION

Anthony went to the ER with a worsening foot wound, which required surgical debridement (removal of damaged tissue). Cultures confirmed osteomyelitis (bone infection), leading to long-term IV antibiotics. An external fixator stabilized the limb while he remained non-weight-bearing for four to six weeks.

TREATMENT AT KINDRED

At Kindred Hospital Northland, Anthony received IV antibiotics, wound care, physical and occupational therapy, and nutrition support. By discharge, he could stand and transfer with staff assistance.

OUTCOME

After 48 days of treatment, Anthony was discharged to an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility.

“I trusted the staff to take great care of me.”
