Benjamin's Success Story
Benjamin, a father of four, was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident and was rushed to the hospital where he received a tracheostomy for breathing assistance and a feeding tube. He was transferred to Kindred Hospital Los Angeles where he worked hard to recover so he could return to his family. After weaning from the ventilator and regaining his ability to eat and speak independently, he was discharged to an acute rehabilitation hospital.
Benjamin is a father of four and in his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities with his children. After a serious motor vehicle accident, Benjamin was rushed to the hospital and required an emergency tracheostomy and PEG (feeding tube) placement. His doctors recommended he be transferred to Kindred Hospital Los Angeles to continue his recovery.
Benjamin’s dedicated team which included his attending physician, respiratory therapist, nurses, registered dieticians, pharmacists, and rehabilitation specialists, collaborated to develop a unique treatment plan. When he first arrived at Kindred couldn’t breathe properly on his own and relied on a ventilator. With the daily care of his pulmonologist and the respiratory team, Benjamin was weaned off the ventilator and was once again able to breathe independently.
Benjamin was committed to working with the rehabilitation team so he could speak with his family again. With the help of his speech and occupational therapists, he learned to speak again and eat independently.
Benjamin was discharged to a rehabilitation hospital closer to home, where he will continue his recovery.
