AT ADMISSION
The accident caused diffuse axonal injury (widespread brain damage), subdural hematomas (bleeding around the brain), and reduced consciousness. Kevin also had respiratory failure, pneumonia, anemia, polytrauma, and a superficial blood clot. He required intubation.
TREATMENT AT KINDRED
At Kindred Hospital South Florida – Coral Gables, Kevin received respiratory therapy as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapy. He advanced to a regular diet and was able to walk and perform daily living activities with supervision. He particularly enjoyed going outside to meditate among the trees.
OUTCOME
After 24 days, Kevin was discharged home.
