Kujtim's Recovery from Respiratory Failure and Gastrointestinal Bleeding

When Kujtim arrived at Kindred Hospital, he required wound care, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, and dietary care. After working with his interdisciplinary care team, he was able to discharge to home.

Kujtim suffered respiratory failure that required intubation, along with gastrointestinal bleeding.

AT ADMISSION

Kujtim also had diabetes and a femoral deep vein thrombosis (blood clot). He required dialysis, a tracheostomy, and an IVC filter, a device that helps prevent blood clots from reaching the lungs.

TREATMENT AT KINDRED

At Kindred Hospital New Jersey – Morris County, Kujtim received nursing, rehabilitation, wound, respiratory, and dietary care. He received IV antibiotics, came off oxygen, and had his tracheostomy removed. He progressed to walking 400 feet with a walker, and all but one head wound healed.

OUTCOME

After 51 days, Kujtim was discharged home with his wife. He looked forward to rejoining his loved ones and returning to his family’s pizzeria.
