Lawrence's Success Story
"All of the staff at Kindred are kind, hardworking and motivated". After having surgery to remove a tumor in his mouth, Lawrence developed a serious lung infection. He came to Kindred Hospital Morris County for ventilator weaning and continue healing. When he arrived, he couldn’t stand or move by himself. At discharge, he could breathe and walk independently.
Lawrence, a loving husband, faced a life-altering diagnosis. His doctors had discovered a tumor in his mouth, which required major surgery to remove it and reconstruct his mouth. After surgery, he was discharged to a rehabilitation facility for continued recovery, but shortly after arriving, he developed a serious lung infection. He ended up needing to return the hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator to breathe and a feeding tube to eat.
Even with these setbacks, Lawrence never gave up on his goal: getting home.
Lawrence came to Kindred Hospital Morris County for ventilator weaning and continue healing. When he arrived, he couldn’t stand or move by himself, and needed help with everyday tasks like getting dressed.
But Lawrence had a strong spirit—and his wife by his side every day. He worked hard with his care team and slowly began to breathe and walk independently again. By the time he left Kindred, he could walk short distances on his own and only needed a little help with daily tasks.
Thanks to his hard work and steady progress, Lawrence was able to return to rehab—stronger, more independent, and one step closer to going home.
