Moises' Recovery from Post-Surgical Breathing Challenges
When Moises arrived at Kindred Hospital, he had a compromised airway. After respiratory therapy and care from many others on Kindred's interdisciplinary team, he was able to discharge to a skilled nursing facility.
A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital South Florida - Coral Gables
Before coming to Kindred Hospital South Florida – Coral Gables, Moises underwent a series of complex neck and jaw surgeries to remove a cancerous tumor. The surgeries, combined with Moises’ history of respiratory conditions, compromised his airway. He experienced complications that led him to be hospitalized, and he was later transferred to Kindred for continued respiratory care and recovery.
At Kindred Coral Gables, based on his condition, diagnosis, and needs, Moises was intubated. He later underwent a tracheostomy, PEG (feeding tube) placement, and other procedures. He received interdisciplinary care from the nursing team, the respiratory team, rehabilitation services, surgeons, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and Ear, Nose & Throat physicians, among other specialties.
Moises, who is retired, made significant improvements in his health and was discharged to a skilled nursing facility.
