AT ADMISSION
Wendy developed acute respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation and a tracheostomy. She also suffered an NSTEMI (heart attack from reduced blood flow), along with superficial chest and arm burns.

She received respiratory therapy, nutrition support, wound care, and physical, occupational, and speech therapy. After arriving unable to follow commands and dependent for all bed mobility, she came off the ventilator, regained speech, returned to regular eating, and progressed to walking and conducting daily activities with supervision.

After 72 days, Wendy was discharged home with her son and newborn granddaughter. She was eager to return to her family.
