William's Success Story

Kindred Hospital Los Angeles patient William poses with his care team

William was shot working as a security guard and required a feeding tube and ventilator for breathing assistance.  At Kindred, he worked with respiratory therapy to strengthen his lungs, as well as speech pathology and dieticians to begin speaking and eating again. William gained his independence and was able to sit, stand, and walk before transitioning to an acute rehab center.

Working as a security guard, William was involved in an unfortunate altercation that resulted in him being shot multiple times.  He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was required a feeding tube and a ventilator for respiratory support. William was then transferred to Kindred Hospital Los Angeles to continue his treatment.

At Kindred, William worked with his pulmonologist and respiratory therapy team to strengthen his lungs and regain his breathing independence.

He also worked with a speech pathologist and registered dietician to begin speaking and eating again.

With the ongoing support of our rehabilitation team, William gained his independence and was able to sit, stand, and walk before transitioning to an acute rehab center.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
