Facing mental health challenges can leave patients feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and uncertain about where to turn. When everyday life becomes too difficult to manage, it may be a sign that additional support is needed—not a sign of failure. For many, choosing inpatient care is a courageous and necessary step toward recovery. At Kindred Hospital Dayton’s Behavioral Health Unit, patients are welcomed into a safe, supportive environment designed to promote healing. The care team provides compassionate support to help individuals manage symptoms, regain stability, and begin the path toward renewed well-being.

We treat adults and seniors with a variety of mental health conditions and symptoms.

Symptoms

  • Behavioral changes related to medications
  • Difficulty managing daily activities
  • Excessive isolation
  • False beliefs, paranoia and/or delusional thoughts
  • Feelings of loneliness, worthlessness or hopelessness
  • Hallucinations
  • Increase or decrease in appetite or sleep
  • Prolonged emotional issues after a major life event
  • Suicidal or homicidal thoughts
  • Trouble concentrating

Services

Full-time mental and medical healthcare clinicians provide compassionate and comprehensive care, tailored to each individuals’ needs.  After an initial assessment, the care team will create a unique treatment plan that may include: 

  • Individual therapy
  • Group counseling
  • Recreational therapy

 

  • Games and activities
  • Skill building (coping, relationships, stress management, communication)
  • Medication management

Our services are guided by board-certified psychiatrists and medical doctors who are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality treatment.  Additionally, mental health nurse are here to support patients every step of the way. They help monitor symptoms, provide education, ensure patients are taking medications safely, and check for any side effects.

 
 

Facility

Kindred Hospital’s recently renovated 43-bed behavioral health unit is designed with safety and healing in mind. Our facility includes a peaceful courtyard for fresh air and community spaces for activities and meals. Each bedroom – whether private or shared - includes its own bathroom to make the stay more comfortable.
