Experiencing complications following surgery, Martha was transferred to Kindred Hospital for advanced wound care. She required IV antibiotics and pain management, as well as advanced wound care techniques. After advancing in recovery and rehabilitation, Martha was discharged home with home health.

Vicki, who had a history of COPD, experienced a cardiac arrest, necessitating the use of a ventilator. After coming to Kindred, she was able to wean from the ventilator and regain mobility and independence, allowing her to transition to a lower level of care.

After a complicated hospital stay due to a bowel obstruction, Irene required mechanical ventilation for breathing support. At Kindred Hospitals, Irene regained her breathing independence and improved her strength, mobility, and communication before transitioning to a lower level of care.

Dolores had scheduled extensive cardiac surgery, she required an aortic balloon pump and ECMO support, which led to a hospital stay of over 30 days. Following her hospital stay, Dolores was admitted to Kindred Hospital San Antonio Central for comprehensive rehabilitation that included both physical and occupational therapy. Upon her admission, the interdisciplinary team crafted a personalized care plan tailored to Dolores's medical condition, with the primary goal of getting her back on her feet. Given Dolores's heart condition, the team understood the importance of starting her rehabilitation slowly to avoid overworking her heart. After making significant progress at Kindred, Dolores was discharged to a lower level of care at an Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) facility to continue her rehabilitation. At the ARU, she will continue to receive specialized physical and occupational therapy. From the entire staff at Kindred, we wish her all the success in her recovery.

Frank was admitted to a local hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He started to experience increased shortness of breath and had to be placed on a ventilator. He was later diagnosed with diabetes and congestive heart failure. A medical decision was made to transfer Frank to Kindred Hospital San Antonio Central for advanced medical care, which included ventilator weaning, rehabilitation, and speech therapy once he was removed from the ventilator. Prior to his admission, the interdisciplinary team crafted a care plan based upon Frank’s medical condition, with the primary goal of liberating him from the ventilator as this would drastically improve his overall recovery, followed by extensive rehab. Through focused therapy, Frank was able to improve his fine motor skills, coordination, and overall functional capacity. With success over success, Frank was able to discharge home.
