Joseph's Recovery from Sepsis With Wound Care
When Joseph arrived at Kindred Hospital, he was septic and in need of wound care. After working with his interdisciplinary care team, he was able to discharge to home with home health.
A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital Denver
Joseph was lifting a sink into the back of his truck when he passed out, unconscious. His brother found him. Imaging at a hospital revealed Joseph had several severe health conditions: pneumonia in his right lung, a small-bowel obstruction, sepsis and acute renal failure.
After his initial hospitalization, Joseph was transferred to Kindred Hospital Denver for specialized long-term acute care and rehabilitation.
At Kindred, he received wound care, including wound vac therapy, dietitian support, physical therapy, and other aspects of interdisciplinary care.
“Everyone here is an angel. Thank you to everybody who helped me get through this. Life is too short. Enjoy every moment.”
Joseph was able to be discharged and return home, with home health. A cook who enjoys reading and works on cars, Josh said he was excited and happy, albeit a little scared, to go home. The Kindred Hospital Denver team was proud to work with Joseph and help him get back home to continue his recovery journey.
