Colin Sullivan, DHA, FACHE, oversees 21 Kindred and Cornerstone specialty hospitals in FL, KY, NJ, NC, OH, PA, TN, and WV.
Experienced healthcare executive Colin P. O’Sullivan, DHA, FACHE, has been named ScionHealth’s Senior Vice President for Specialty Hospital Operations for the East Region of its nationwide health system, which includes Kindred Hospitals.
In his new role, O’Sullivan oversees strategic planning and operations for ScionHealth’s 21 Kindred Hospitals and Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals in Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia. These long-term acute care hospitals (LTACHs) provide specialized acute care and rehabilitation to medically complex patients.
O’Sullivan has nearly three decades of executive healthcare leadership experience – including in the LTACH space – with a proven track record of driving growth, improving clinical outcomes, and optimizing operational performance across acute and post-acute care systems.
He most recently served as CEO of HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital in South Carolina. Under his leadership, the hospital rebranded, expanded its medical staff, had strong growth in surgical and emergency services, advanced trauma readiness efforts, and earned multiple quality recognitions.
Prior to HCA, O’Sullivan served as CEO of Advanced Dallas Hospital and Clinics, where he guided a start-up hospital to sustainable operations.
Earlier in his career, Mr. O’Sullivan served nearly a decade as Executive VP with Cornerstone Healthcare Group, where he oversaw a portfolio of hospitals that was acquired by ScionHealth in 2023.
“Colin O’Sullivan is a dynamic, results-driven leader with a deep commitment to clinical excellence and operational discipline,” said Linn Billingsley, President, Specialty Hospitals, for ScionHealth. “His experience and success leading complex healthcare organizations, including ones specializing in long-term acute care, make him an ideal choice to lead our East Region for Kindred and Cornerstone. Colin understands our patients, our caregivers, and our business, and we believe he will help us achieve excellent outcomes for all three.”
O’Sullivan, who is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, holds the degrees of Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Central Michigan University, Master of Science in Management for Healthcare Administration from Marshall University, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration for Concord University. He has also served in the West Virginia Air National Guard and is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force’s Officer Training School.
“Kindred Hospitals and Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals are national leaders in specialized care for medically complex patients, and I’m honored to join ScionHealth in supporting our hospital leaders, caregivers and patients,” O’Sullivan said. “I look forward to advancing our goals of delivering high-quality care and achieving operational excellence.”
