Tanveer's Recovery From Stroke, AFib, and Respiratory Distress

Kindred Hospital Albuquerque patient Tanveer poses with her caregiver team

When Tanveer arrived at Kindred Hospital, she required respiratory therapy, dietician support, and telemetry. After working with her interdisciplinary care team, she was able to discharge to an Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility.

A Patient Success Story from Kindred Hospital Albuquerque

Tanveer first received care for left-sided weakness after a stroke alert, then transferred for an MRI. She developed respiratory distress and required intubation.

AT ADMISSION

Tanveer’s initial hospitalization was complicated by AFib (irregular heartbeat), positive cultures showing infection, and respiratory failure requiring ventilator support.

TREATMENT AT KINDRED

After transferring to Kindred Hospital Albuquerque, Tanveer received respiratory therapy, dietitian support, and telemetry (heart monitoring), as well as physical, occupational, and speech therapy. She had a feeding tube for nutrition and received IV antibiotics. Initially, she slept, did not open her eyes much, and could not speak. Her prognosis appeared grim. However, caregivers helped Tanveer successfully wean off the ventilator, and her strength and mobility improved.

OUTCOME

After 35 days at Kindred, Tanveer was discharged to an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility.
