Toya's Success Story

Kindred Hospital Seattle patient Toya takes photo with Wings of Mexico after recovery

When Toya arrived at Kindred Hospital Seattle, she required immediate, life-saving care.  After resuscitating Toya, her team healed her stage 4 sacral ulcer and helped her wean from the ventilator.

When Toya came to Kindred Hospital Seattle, she had a stage 4 sacral decubitus ulcer and was in septic shock with acute renal failure.

As a result of her severe condition, she required life-saving intervention from the Kindred team shortly after arriving.

Her care team’s first priority was to heal her stage 4 sacral wound. With a combination of IV antibiotics, surgical debridement, and the use of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, they made significant progress.  After several weeks, her wound was almost completely healed.

Toya’s care team also weaned her from the ventilator, allowing her to breathe independently and eat regular food safely again.

Toya is looking forward to the next step in her healthcare journey of healing.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
