John's Success Story

Kindred Hospital Philadelphia patient John poses with his care team

After arriving at Kindred Hospitals with a feeding tube and tracheostomy collar, John was able to return to a normal diet and progress to acute rehabilitation.

John was transferred to Kindred Hospital - Philadelphia with PEG (feeding) tube, extremely deconditioned, and reliant on a tracheostomy collar.

Through the dedicated efforts of our nursing staff, physical therapy, and respiratory therapy teams, John made remarkable progress. He has successfully transitioned from the PEG tube to a regular diet.

Additionally, John completed PMV (Passy-Muir Valve) trials, enabling him to speak with the assistance of a speaking valve.

He also achieved significant milestones while working with our physical and occupational therapists which led to his transfer to acute rehabilitation.

His determination and the collaborative efforts of our multidisciplinary team were key to his recovery journey.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
